Tenacity® herbicide is safe to use on
six turfgrass species.
Currently there is no herbicide quite like Tenacity®. When it comes to the number of turf species at seeding or on established stands that you can safely apply this herbicide to, while also controlling 46 weeds and grasses, Tenacity stands alone. Not to mention control of creeping bentgrass for an even more playable and beautiful course!
You can safely apply Tenacity to the following species for both pre-emergence and post-emergence control, whether established or newly seeded turf:

Basic application guidelines:
- Repeat applications after two to three weeks when applied alone.
- Maximum of 16 oz/A per year or crop (whichever is shorter).
- Apply in 30–40 gal/A water and add a NIS for post-emergence applications.
New seedings application guidelines:
- Apply Tenacity at 5–8 oz/A in at least 30 gallons of water per acre prior to seeding of tolerant turfgrass species, except fine fescue.
Do not apply to seed blends that contain more than 20% fine fescue.
Pre-emergence application guidelines:
- Apply Tenacity at 4–8 oz/A in at least 30 gallons of water per acre prior to weed seed germination.
- Do not exceed 5 oz/A per application to perennial ryegrass or fine fescue mixed stands that contain greater than 50% of those species.
- Do not exceed 4 oz/A to St. Augustinegrass sod.
Post-emergence application guidelines:
- Apply Tenacity at 4–8 oz/A in at least 30 gallons of water per acre.
- Apply with a NIS type surfactant.
- A repeat application after two to three weeks may be required.
Application recommendations:
- Allow a five-foot buffer between bentgrass greens and treated areas.
- Avoid down-slope applications.
- Avoid traffic until dry.
- To reduce movement into sensitive species, such as bentgrass, withhold traffic until spray has dried and irrigate lightly to move product from turf foliage before resuming normal irrigation.
- Apply post-emergence applications with a NIS.
- For best control apply to less than four tiller goosegrass and crabgrass.
