Season long control of grubs, leps and billbugs

Early-season Acelepryn applications

Acelepryn^® insecticide is the standard for grub control with excellent performance. A single application, applied early, can deliver season-long control of grubs, billbugs and turf caterpillars such as armyworms, cutworms and sod webworms. The broad-spectrum control of Acelepryn is also effective against European Crane Fly and can suppress chinch bug populations. As an insecticide available for turf in IRAC group 28 (anthranilic diamides), the unique class of chemistry and novel mode of action makes Acelepryn a great resistance management tool.

Acelepryn offers the most effective control when applied in April or May, but also delivers excellent control of grubs when applied in June (see table). The wide application window of Acelepryn gives turf professionals the flexibility to make grub applications at a time that is convenient for their operation. Due to its low water-solubility, Acelepryn applications made later in the season (June) should be watered-in to ensure it moves into the soil where it will be available to newly hatched grubs.

Acelepryn is a versatile product that fits well within a lawn care program. It is also labeled for use on landscape ornamentals. There are several methods to make applications, including:

• A foliar application to control leaf-feeding caterpillars and Japanese beetle adults.
• An injection into the soil to prevent lace bugs, aphids and birch leafminers.
• A bark spray to eliminate clearwing borers.
• Broadcast spray applications to landscape beds for grub control.

Late-season Meridian 25WG, Meridian 0.33G and Caravan G applications

If early insecticide applications for white grubs don’t fit into your program, consider incorporating Meridian^® 25WG insecticide, Meridian 0.33G insecticide or Caravan^® G insecticide/fungicide:

• Meridian insecticides offer long-lasting control of soil and foliar pests in turf, trees and shrubs. They provide curative and preventive control of white grubs and stay in the grub zone to optimize control. A preventive application of Meridian 25WG or Meridian 0.33G timed in mid-June to mid-July allows delayed watering-in for up to seven days, providing plenty of time for soil activation.
• When you need to combat both insect and disease pressure at the same time, Caravan G offers the convenience of an insecticide and fungicide in one product. It contains the same active ingredient found in Heritage^® fungicide to complement its excellent insect control. While timing and geographies vary, one application of Caravan G made in June or early July can yield season-long grub control and three weeks of preventive brown patch control.
