Managing Invasive and Nuisance Aquatic Weeds in Golf Course Ponds

Managing invasive and nuisance aquatic weeds in golf course ponds can be challenging.

Follow a proactive weed control program to inhibit growth of invasive weeds in your ponds that may have a negative impact on your operation, such as unsightly water areas as well as damage to filtration elements and pump stations.

Key components to managing aquatic weeds:

  • Properly identify the weed species present
  • Implement any cultural and physical control practices that may help in aquatic weed management, including reducing the nutrient load into the pond
  • Choose an appropriate herbicide to control the weed species identified
  • Follow herbicide label directions thoroughly for maximum performance
  • Start your control program early while weeds are small and easier to control
  • Apply herbicide to actively growing weeds on sunny, calm days
