Plants that can be Pruned

With the arrival of late autumn, many ornamental species are pruned.  The time to prune is often dependent on the flowering date of the plant.  A majority of spring flowering plants, like forsythia and dogwood are normally pruned after bloom. Summer flowering plants are generally pruned during the winter when the plant is dormant. Plants that are vegetative in nature and not grown for their flowering are often pruned during the dormant winter season.
