Ryegrass Sports Fields Sitting Target for Brown Patch

Through most of the eastern United States prolonged warm humid weather has resulted in outbreaks of brown patch.  Nighttime temperatures that remain above 70 F combined with high humidity or moisture are ideal conditions for brown patch.  However in areas where thunderstorms are active and moisture levels have remained high, brown patch is active at nighttime temperatures below 70 F.  Perennial ryegrass is especially susceptible to brown patch and is most likely evident on many areas where ryegrass is maintained.
