Rhizoctonia large patch, formerly known as Zoysia patchĀ occurs most often in early spring.Ā However, it can occur during autumn when conditions are favorable.
Ā In autumn large patch occurs through the southeastern and southwestern United States.
Ā Large patch develops under conditions of high humidity and nighttime temperatures in the 50ās and 60ās.
Ā The rings or patches caused by the pathogen Rhizoctonia solani may vary from a few inches in diameter to several feet.
Ā Large patch is much more severe on turf cut at a height below the optimum.
Ā To help discourage the development of this disease in late fall raise the mowing height slightly.
